About Us.
In 1996, in the quiet beach community of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Sunset House welcomed our first clients. Since then, we have helped hundreds of men and their families build lives of meaning and purpose in recovery.
Sunset House is a Joint Commission-accredited, FARR-certified, DCF-licensed level 4 residential treatment program, which means we provide increased care and structure beyond a traditional halfway house. We have clinical staff on-site, and just steps away from client housing, so expert help and support is nearby whenever clients need it.
Why is this important? Men who complete inpatient treatment, whether that’s for 30, 60, or 90 days or more have generally experienced an intensive clinical component to address the underlying issues relevant to their substance use disorder or dual diagnosis. They’ve had the benefit individual therapy sessions and group therapy sessions that have helped them process their thoughts, feelings and experiences. They’ve also likely experienced the first tentative insights into how to sustain their sobriety for the long-term and define a life of meaning and purpose.
As a licensed halfway house with a clinical component, Sunset House has the staff and expertise to continue the work he began in inpatient treatment, and build off that momentum. Our clinical team creates a care plan that includes a minimum of three weekly groups, and an appropriate number of hours for individual therapy.
Our mission is to provide the structure and support necessary to help young adult men transition from inpatient treatment to independent living confidently. Our approach is to give men a progressive series of phases where they can continue to receive valuable clinical care while building their self-esteem and self-sufficiency.
